Web Design Process
Although each web project is unique, our thorough approach to building a new website is the same. Here’s how we approach each web design project:
Discovery
We begin each project by learning as much as possible about your business, your customers, and your needs. This starts with our free initial web consultation, when we clarify your business goals and objectives and discuss possible solutions.
Defining the Project
After the initial consultation, we develop a proposal based on what we consider the most effective solution for your business given your budget and time constraints. The proposal defines the scope of the project, outlines a time frame, and itemizes our fee. With your acceptance of the proposal, we put our plan into action.
Developing the Information Architecture
Whether the written content will be provided by you or produced by one of our web copywriters, we start every project by defining the structure of the content. For a typical project, we come up with a content outline, navigation structure, and wireframe the site template. We consider this stage of the project to be vital to the development of user-friendly sites. Your input during this stage is important.
Designing the Visual Interface
Here’s where the artists get involved. We take the requirements outlined by the information architecture and design graphical mock-ups of key pages for the website. Our typical proposal includes up to three design mock-ups with two revisions for each mock-up.
Build and Integrate
Once you have approved a design mock-up, we begin coding your website. If your website includes a content management system or ecommerce shopping cart, we integrate those during this phase. We test your website throughout this process to make sure it works well on various browsers and operating systems. We pay special attention to accessibility for non-traditional web browsing, and we develop sites to best practices and web standards. By the end of this stage, your website will be ready for your approval.
Website Launch
Once you have approved your final site, we upload it to a web server so it’s “online”. If you will be using a content management system or ecommerce shopping cart, we’ll train you how to use those.
Website Maintenance & Support
Don’t worry. We won’t disappear after your site launches. We will be around long after the launch of your website to help with any site updates, upgrades, or general site support.
